What dish(es) to make for a pre-school end-of-school-year picnic?
I have my son's end-of-school-year picnic next Thursday night and each family was asked to bring 2 dishes to pass around. I am going to make a version of a veggie pizza with crescent roll crust, ranch sour cream, cheese and veggies. But I don't know what else to bring that is in dish-form for a picnic that is not already taken by other parents. Any serious ideas are greatly appreciated.

- I make "fruit kabobs" for my daughters class ...they love em ! I just put whatever fruit she likes on the little plastic "toothpicks" that look like swords !! Always a big hit !
- What about mac and cheese? When I was young, that was one my favorite foods! You can make it healthier too, by adding in some peas, or carrots. Or both. Good luck with the picnic ;)
- If you need snacks, you could bring Jello Jigglers ... or "Ants on a Log" (2" pieces of celery, with either peanut butter or cheese or cream cheese in the centers; sprinkled with raisins or Craisins on top) ..... My pre-school grandkids LOVE this: FRUIT AMBROSIA 2 c. heavy whipping cream 1/2 c. sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 almond extract 1 large can mandarin oranges, drained 1-2 cans fruit cocktail, drained (I like Triple Cherry) 3-4 cups miniature marshmellows Whip the cream, sugar & extracts until very stiff peaks. Fold in fruit and marshmellows and chill.....
- PIGS IN A BLANKET...kids love em and they are so easy PIZZA CASSEROLE...noodles,spag sauce, mozza, pepperoni and peppers, mushrooms, onions TACO BAKE-layered tortillas, ground beef, salsa, beans, cheese, sour cream, green onions and olives Kid-friendly but tasty for the adults too
- macoroni and cheese, apples, pudding, juice boxes, sandwiches anything a pre- schooler would find good!
- the fruit kabobs is a wonderful suggestion or here is a recipe that is a huge hit at all of our church potlucks. 1 box of ding dongs. 1 container cool whip 1 lg package of chocolate pudding.(make pudding according to directions) crush the ding dongs in the bottom of a pan. Top with pudding then top with cool whip. Easy and Yummy. Another option is a veggie tray with dinosaur dip (1 package of ranch mix and 1 container of sour cream)
- ~Fruit Pizza ~Fruit Kabobs on toothpicks (strawberry, grape, kiwi or apple chunk) ~Decorate your Own Cookies (bake sugar cookies, having icing there for them to spread and sprinkles to decorate with... kids LOVE this activity/treat!) ~Rice Krispy treats w/ some Fruity Pbbles cereal mixed in for color ~Pigs in a Blanket (1/4 of a hot dog rolled up in a bit of crescent roll dough and baked; have mustard & ketchup for dipping) Fruit Pizza 1 pkg. sugar cookie rolled dough 1 8oz. cream cheese, softened 1 8oz. sour cream 1 cup confectioners sugar 8-10 strawberries, capped and sliced handful of blueberries 3 fresh kiwi, peeled, halved, and sliced ½ cup pineapple tidbits, drained Spread cookie dough into a circle on a pizza pan and bake until golden brown; let cool completely. Mix cream cheese, sour cream, and confectioners sugar with a mixer until well blended. Spread on the cooled cookie dough. Arrange fruit decoratively on top of icing. Chill for 2+ hours before serving.
